The fat acceptance movement has spent decades fighting weight stigma and calling for equal rights for fat people in all areas of life. As the movement moved online, the idea of body positivity emerged. While fat acceptance was about societal change, body positivity was more about self help -- loving yourself at any size. With the rise of social media, body positivity influencers gained success and sponsorships. But lately, fat acceptance and body positivity have been at a crossroads. Gabriella Lascano is a fashion and beauty influencer and public speaker who’s been caught up in some of these conflicting perspectives. Today we ask, “Can you be body positive and still want to lose weight?”
